Do I have to own or manage the clinic?
No. In a MedPros-owned clinic partnership, you own and operate the pharmacy while MedPros owns the clinic business and manages its non-clinical operations. Alternatively, you can explore owning the clinic business and pharmacy with MedPros supporting development and management. The final structure and responsibilities are set out in the project agreements.
Can a pharmacist own a medical clinic business?
Owning clinic premises or a non-clinical clinic business is distinct from owning a physician’s regulated practice or controlling medical care. The proposed ownership, lease and management arrangements should be reviewed by Ontario healthcare counsel. Physicians retain independent clinical judgment and their own professional obligations.
Can you work with my existing pharmacy or vacant clinic space?
Yes. We can assess a potential clinic beside your pharmacy, an unused clinical area or an existing clinic that needs operating support. We review the site, existing arrangements, required upgrades, physician opportunity and the management or ownership structure that could fit.
Do you recruit the physicians?
MedPros provides physician recruitment and onboarding support as part of the agreed project scope. This can include defining the opportunity, sourcing candidates and coordinating interviews and practice setup. Physician participation, licensing, start dates and long-term retention depend on the individual opportunity and cannot be guaranteed.
Will clinic patients use my pharmacy?
A nearby pharmacy can be a convenient option, but every patient remains free to choose their pharmacy. Clinical decisions, prescriptions and referrals must remain independent. The partnership is not based on guaranteed prescriptions, referrals or dispensing volume. See CPSO’s prescribing policy and OCP’s business-arrangement guidance.
What will it cost, and how long will it take?
Investment and timing depend on the site, ownership model, size, building conditions, lease, approvals, construction, staffing and recruitment. We develop the scope and assumptions with you rather than apply a single price or opening timeline to every project. Physician placements, patient volumes and financial returns are not guaranteed.
Who handles pharmacy accreditation and patient information?
The pharmacy owner and designated manager remain responsible for meeting applicable pharmacy requirements. MedPros can coordinate project and application support within the agreed scope; regulatory approval rests with the Ontario College of Pharmacists. Co-location does not create automatic access to clinic records. Access and information-sharing must follow privacy law, consent requirements and clearly defined responsibilities.
